Taber will take advantage of any situation that puts more money in their pocket. They rushed us into our house in 5 months when the estimated time was 8-12 months. We were way overcharged for not only upgrades, but the overall house value. We built a hummingbird half bath plan from start to finish and they estimated our home value at $382,000. And now not even 2 years later, not a single home in our neighborhood has dropped in value except for ours, dropping to $360,000. That was $20,000 out of our pocket because that’s what they convinced us it costs. It didn’t drop any other home value because they paid what the value was. We got scammed out of money down for the lot, upgrades, paperwork fees, put CASH DOWN and still lost all of our equity. So Taber will manipulate and lie, hire homes evaluators that over value the house. The day of signing we were so tired and were asked to take a move in day picture and never got to even see that picture they took because after you sign that paperwork they know you’re screwed and just drop you like a fly. Oh and on our walkthrough for our NEW home, there was dried glue all over all of the tiles and red dirt all in all the grout, we were told they would clean it and they never did. They also painted several things the wrong color than what was picked out on paper, and then they gave me the biggest attitude and said they wouldn’t change it unless they were absolutely sure it was wrong. And it was! I also paid for them to put handles on all of the cabinets, they forgot some cabinets that I pointed out and then screwed them in uneven. I lost so much money, sanity, hard-work, and time dealing with homes by Taber. Avoid at all costs!! If the fireplace entices you, I suggest just adding one to whatever DIFFERENT home builder you are able to find. I promise you don’t want to waste your time or money with this home builder. I was so excited to build a Taber home and I will never make that same mistake again.

    Homes By Taber, LLC Response

    10/23/2024

Thank for your feedback and for an opportunity to respond. Based on our records, you signed a contract on July 27, 2022, which included an acknowledgment that the closing date would be determined once permanent utilities were installed, and the home reached the insulation phase. Our typical build time ranges from 6 to 7 months, but this can vary due to weather, permits, utilities, and availability of materials.

We never rush anyone into a home. By late October 2022, your home reached the insulation stage, at which point we assigned a closing date of January 20, 2023, in accordance with your signed agreement. After you expressed concerns about this date, our management team agreed to extend the closing to March 16, 2023, without penalties or fees. However, after consulting with your lender, you requested to proceed with the January 20, 2023 closing to secure a favorable interest rate. This was confirmed by a signed contract addendum on November 7, 2022.

Your claim of being "scammed" is unfounded, and our contract is clear on this matter. Regarding the home’s appraised value, Homes by Taber has zero involvement in the appraisal process, or the appraiser selected by the lender. All upfront payments, including earnest money and upgrade costs, were returned to you at closing, as outlined in our agreement. This is reflected in your closing documents from both the title company and your lender.

We’re happy to provide you with any closing photos taken during the process. If you review the Homes by Taber social media accounts, we take great pride in celebrating our customers' experiences. We are equally committed to providing service after the sale and our dedicated in-house warranty team is always there to help.

During the homeowner orientation walkthrough our goal is to have the home as near to complete as possible. This walkthrough allows buyers to identify any areas they may like for us to improve and allow time for us to get those items corrected before closing. This is also the time when we receive a private inspection report, should one be ordered by the buyer. 1-2 days prior to closing, buyers have the opportunity at their final walk/delivery to confirm all items listed have been completed to their satisfaction before closing. This same process took place as part of your purchase of your home, with all requested corrections confirmed as completed.

We would like to end with this: while many of your statements made in this review are both false and defamatory, we are happy to help guide you through some of the challenges you may be facing with your home’s perceived value. It’s unclear whether your assumption of low value is due to an online estimate you have seen or a low appraisal while trying to resale, so we are adding these two additional notes that will hopefully help. 1) When selling a home, low appraisals can occur but there is a standard process to dispute them. Your lender should be able to guide you, but we are also glad to do so. 2) Online estimated values vary significantly and it’s important to contact a real estate professional directly to get a full evaluation. If you would like a recommendation for a real estate professional, we are also happy to direct you or support you in any way. We highly recommend you do not assume the value of your home from an online estimate on a real estate platform.

Please feel free to reach out to us directly if you would like to discuss further.
