Last Saturday, August 19th, I accompanied my mother to Hillcrest South **** * ***** * ***, Tulsa, OK *****, located at as she refused to go to the location on **** Street due to bad memories of death and how they treated our family members in the past. It took me 45 minutes to drive there from Sperry. Once we arrived and checked in, she was seen in a timely manner and checked by Nurse Ryan. He asked her to change into a gown and informed her that a scan would be done on her leg after she stated what was going on. However, no examination was completed on her leg. This was the second time we had been to this hospital for the same reason, and we had to leave the first time due to the unreasonable length of time we had to wait. We were pleased with the fact that she was seen quickly this time, especially since there were not many patients waiting. We informed the nurse that she had been in severe pain overnight, her foot was numb and cold, and she could not walk on it. He looked over her records, file, and medical background, which included her stint in her right leg, asked a few more questions, and left the room. After about 30 minutes, she received a scan on her leg, and Ryan came back in and stated that she was free to go and follow up with the cardiovascular surgeon on Monday. We were shocked, as her foot was cold as ice, and we feared that this could cause her to lose her foot or set up an infection. This lack of proper care and follow-up was a failure of basic humanity and compassion, and it was the second time they had shown such disregard while failing to provide adequate services with reasonable care and skill. Furthermore, they did not take appropriate action upon being informed of the incident, and the documentation was poor. I immediately called Dr. ******** and left him a message informing him of this occurrence. He was in disbelief and called another hospital to get her into emergency surgery and help her out within the next two hours.
