This company would not service the heating and a/c system they installed in August, 2020 at my residence. It is the second unit installed since the original unit was replaced by this company. This company made no less than 10 service calls since these units were installed. The service technicians were apparently unqualified to install and service this system. The system was a Daikin Mini Split heat pump. Furthermore, this company caused damage to the interior wall of my residence when the condensation from this unit leaked on the inside since it did not drain properly to the outside. This water damage was created twice. When I discussed this issue with Darrell, he said I could repair and paint the damage myself by making a trip to Lowes. This type of workmanship should not be allowed, especially since they will not service the unit when it has a 5 year warranty. I plan to report these issues to the Daikin USA Company and the SC Department of Consumer Affairs and the SC Residential HVAC Contractors Licensing board.

Air Comfort Heating & Cooling Response

    12/30/2021

Air Comfort was contacted by Mr. ******* ******* in reference to having a 1.5 Ton Wall Mounted Ductless Heat Pump System installed in his garage on or before June 26, 2020. The technician assigned advised Mr. ******* of the advantages/disadvantages of such a system of such as well as information about our company. Mr. ******* decided to have the system installed.
Air Comfort obtained all the proper permits required for the job and ordered the equipment. Initial installation was performed on July 29, 2020 and completed the same day. Upon completion, the lead technician assigned to the installation gave Mr. ******* a step-by-step instruction on how to use the new system. An invoice (#XX-XXXXX) was written up and a check in the amount of $3,650.00 was given by Mr. ********
As a courtesy, Air Comfort registered the 10-year part warranty with the manufacturer for Mr. ******* and he was offered a copy of said registration. Furthermore, Air Comfort offers a 1 year, no cost, 100% coverage of any system that is installed by our business.
After initial installation, Mr. ******* called numerous times for issues with the unit or individual operational issues. He was not charged anything for any of the calls for service. One of the issues was water coming from the "head unit" which was running down the wall in the garage. It was found that his wife had moved the flexible condensate drain line from its set location and caused it to go uphill. The condensation took the path of least resistance, overflowed from its drain pan and ran down the wall in the garage. At some point between July 29, 2020, and February 25, 2021, the system began leaking refrigerant and multiple attempts were made to find the leak. Mr. ******* was very frustrated, and Air Comfort attempted to satisfy his needs. During the times that our technicians were sent out to handle the calls for service, Mr. ******* would be verbally rude and downright degrading to our employees and company. The attempts to find the leak were unsuccessful but refrigerant was added each time to keep the system running.
After all the avenues were exhausted, Air Comfort offered to completely replace the entire system at NO COST to Mr. ******** He accepted the offer. On February 25, 2021, Air Comfort replaced the entire system (including interior copper lines, drain lines, and communicating wire). The installation was supervised by the owner of the company to ensure the work was performed properly. Upon completion of the installation, a check of the operation of the system was performed, and a no cost invoice (#XX-XXXXX) was written up. At that time, Darren ******, President/Owner informed Mr. ******* that we would no longer service his residence or Mr. ******* himself. The new system was again registered for the 10-year part warranty by Air Comfort and a copy of the warranty was made available to Mr. ********
In November 2021, Mr. Waldrep called for service to the system in the garage and he was reminded that Air Comfort would not service him. Once again, Mr. ******* became irritated, rude, and degrading. The conversation ended with him telling us that he was going to file multiple complaints on the company.
