Was working Contract job at ********* ******* ***** - near Athens, TN where happily, readily joined the Workout Anytime gym to maintain my fitness while working away from home (W. KY). Sign up was easy - simply walked in, explained that I'm going to be in the area [only] for a few months... no problem, they said, just tell us when you're done & we'll cancel (with notice). Provided credit card & BOOM, am working out in <10m. Work wraps up, time to move back home, give notice at gym, they say I must go on-line, create an account & follow process to cancel. I say 'no', am here to cancel, just as I signed up - and was assured it'd be ez to do so; further, the email I provided was my work email, which I no longer have access to, but I made it clear that I want my membership cancelled - esp since there is no Workout Anytime gym near my residence (closest one: Madisonville, KY 1hr away) Of course, they continue to charge my CC (which I disputed), went on to Collections, where they hammered my Credit rating, etc. Fast fwd a few YEARS to this one, where I finally find someone there to help me exercise the offer to clear debt by paying a fee to renew membership, then cancel - which i did a month or so ago. This week I get yet another phone call telling me I have an unpaid balance.... I AM SICK OF THIS! A simple 3-mo membership while I was working 5hr away from home has turned into a grandiose SCAM with seemingly no way out! There's more to this (several efforts to exercise that "grace" option, but to no avail, as they insisted i must drive there to sign the document in order to process it, for example) Can you guys please help? I'm sure I'm not the only one - as indicated by one of the employees whom I spoke with, but who's hands are tied by Corporate policy, so it seems.... Resolution Amount (charges beyond Active membership) is ESTIMATED... this is not about the $, as already stated; getting my good Credit restored - & addressing the unethical business practices.
