We purchased our home from our local Clayton retailer near us. We have the 2021 Summit. We love the layout and the size. There could always be more closet space but the layout has worked wonderfully for our family of 5. However, we have only lived here 3 years and our cabinets are falling apart. The manufacturer has sent us new tracks for our drawers but the cabinets are made of pressed wood so it is hard to get it to work. Now where the cabinet drawers come together are breaking and my entire from of the drawer has fallen off. My husband has worked to fix this but it’s frustrating that our home is so new and cabinets are already falling apart. We have also had trouble with the counter tops, where my dishwasher is the edge of the counter top is coming apart, as well as, on the corners. We have also had trouble with the modeling around our doors and cabinets, we have had lots of pieces come off and have had to be repaired or replaced. I know you get what you pay for and that’s one thing with mobile homes that make them more affordable, however, it was not cheap and the cabinets are very cheaply made.Clayton Homes, Inc. Response

Hi Ramon, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear about your frustrations, as our team did everything we could to ensure you had a good customer experience. Unfortunately, the land ended up requiring footers and additional dirt, which were not in your contract. You purchased the property & it does have wetlands on part of it. No one knew this until the land was cleared that we could not set the house on it due to it was like a sponge. We split the cost, and you paid 4,500 & we paid 4,500.Review from Wendy O

Hello Clifford, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We strive to provide a world-class customer experience, and are sorry to hear of these frustrations. Our retailer has noted that every issue that was on the New Home Orientation was addressed and if a correction was needed to be made it was taken care of. The only outstanding item we are aware of is the island countertop, which we have ordered a new island countertop for. We are working to get this completed and schedule our service tech. Please contact the retailer directly so they can get everything resolved for you.Review from Lynne M

Mr Patrick Norris, the repair person for Clayton Homes in Louisville, Ky. has done outstanding work for myself and my husband. He has repeatedly done whatever we need to satisfy us with our home. Please take care of this employee as he is one of the best I have worked with. Also Zach Richardson the salesman is great to work with. Also Eddie who is the site specialist is great alone with Katye. Very well satisfied with all of their work.Clayton Homes, Inc. Response

Clayton Mobile Homes told me I would be in my new home before the first payment was due. That was in August when I closed. It's November, I'm coming up on my second payment, and I am still not able to move in due to the electric inspection not being done. Every time I ask when it will be done, they tell me it's up to the state, not them. I've had a conversation with the electric company and they say the state is not behind and normally their inspection is completed within 5 days of the electrician filing a permit. The project manager even admitted that he thinks someone dropped the ball somewhere, but I'm still being told it's out of their hands. If I could do things over again, I would never have chosen Clayton Mobile Homes for my new home.Clayton Homes, Inc. Response

Good afternoon, Ms. *******, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We strive to provide a world-class experience for our customers and want to assure you that we are diligently working towards resolution. We are in close communications with you on the delay of the electric inspection. The issue was the 911 address on the permit side was somehow off one number and no one from the Electric company notified us. After this was corrected, we had to request them to schedule the inspection back this week. To make matters worse the electric inspector didn't inspect on the days he normally does this week. We have all made multiple calls to ensure the issue will be resolved. The home has been completed over a month. We just received word that the inspector approved the service, we will do all we can to help resolve these concerns.Review from Timothy H

We closed on our double wide last year in October. We’ve had issues from the start. First it started before we even moved in. We ended up with about a $700 ameren bill. Come to find out the contractors were using large equipment and plugging it into the house outlets. After that we found out that both doors on the house leak. When it rains water pours in from the bottom so now we have damage to trim and drywall by the doors. And we keep finding issues. We have whole bunch of water damage to drywall from the halves not being properly sealed when at the lot. There are tears in the laminate where they tried to glue back down and hide it, but I found them. There are tears couple spots where I can press my toe down on the laminate and I’m assuming there’s holes in the OSB that they never bothered to fix. Under some of the carpet there’s bumps which I’m assuming either the left trash or something when they put the carpet down. The shower doors leaks out water cause they don’t know how to silicone properly. I’d say about 6 different spot just on the bottom side of the shower doors where water leaks. You can see all the seam of the ceiling drywall that they put up. They don’t know how to mud and just assumed it would go away when they did the popcorn ceilings. Doors are not put on properly along with the framing of the door. You can see every curve when they put up doors are closed. There’s a couple bedroom closets that they didn’t even finish. Completely missing from so I can see the ends of the drywall. Siding looks horrible, especially around the windows. We have Asian beetles and bees that are able to get in the house, either from the windows or doors or both. We’ve tried to get someone to come out and fix it but no one will. I think legal action is the only possible outcome for them do anything about it. Very pissed about how this experience has turned out.Clayton Homes, Inc. Response

Here & I still can't get any issues resolved or ?s answered. Now being told to call extended warranty #'s or talk to someone else. All the issues & out of pockets on top of the over 128,000 for NEW home + Extra warranty & still nothing. (not lot model). My home was damaged from day 1 by CO. & sub contractors. Crew working on my property made additional problems on top of all. My property was a trash can during insulation. No 1 wanted to answer me on bill breakdown on where my $ was spent detailed. (That alone seems sketchy & makes me believe they hired cheap contractors to pocket the rest of my $). Groundwork NEVER completed fully & I know it didn't cost near what they claim. Buried my chainlink fence, no one bothers. Frozen pipes due to insulation torn b/c crew decided not to do any inspections after hooking my water up resulting in water leaking for days under the home causing insulation to fill with water & bust. (Never got fixed.) Oh, & I had to pay that HUGE water bill. Construction had taken way longer than anticipated, & escrow did not get front-loaded, so it's caused my mortgage to skyrocket $300 1st year. So now paying the exact payment I told them from day 1 I won't do monthly. They tried blaming it just on property taxes & home insurance inflation, but an outside real estate agent looked it over & told me the truth. As long as they get their $, that's all that matters. Some employees are extremely rude & get put out anytime you talk to them about an issue that wasn't even our fault. (Manger at our local office). The original lady who started the process with us was friendly but she had to be out of work during a majority of our time getting all this done, so it was like we had no representation & bounced around different ppl. Always excuses. Stuck w/ a 30-year disappointment w/ MY LAND attached too. Land I already paid off once. The electricity quit on 1 side of the house. Could be dangerous, still no help. It's time to go above the company for REAL help.Clayton Homes, Inc. Response

Good afternoon, Christina and Eric, thank you for contacting us regarding your experience. We are sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction regarding the setup of your home. As mentioned in previous communication regarding electrical issues, this is not something Clayton will be addressing unless you receive documentation from your insurance provider that it is a manufacturing defect. Please contact our customer advocacy team if you have further concerns.
