BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising.  These claims may come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints, and competitor challenges.  BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers more clear to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.

On June 13, 2023, BBB contacted Premier Research Labs regarding advertised claims on their website https://prlabs.com including health disease claims, wholesale, and bioavailability claims,

BBB Code of Advertising states when advertising the terms "Wholesaler", "Wholesale outlet", "distributor" and the like can be used where all advertised products are actually manufactured by the advertiser or in factories owned or controlled by the advertiser.  

BBB requested Premier Research Labs substantiate they manufacture the advertised products or controls the factories in which the products are manufactured. Premier Research Labs provided BBB with their Food  and Drug Administration (FDA) registration of the facility registration with FDA to substantiate this claim.

Premier Research Labs advertises bioavailability claims and specific health claims. 

BBB Code of Advertising states the primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser.  Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast.  Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB. 

BBB requested Premier Research Labs to provide evidence from recent, reliable, and competent studies or other objective data which may include scientific findings, FDA approvals, clinical studies in human clinical trials, or other objective data to substantiate this claim.

Premier Research Labs also advertises specific claimed results including:

Digestive support and healthy blood sugar levels that are already within the normal range can be supported by PancreVen™’s secret weapon; Indonesian cinnamon bark!”

“Testosterone Premium – supports men’s sexual vitality and sexual desire, Promotes healthy testosterone levels, Helps reduce common symptoms related to male andropause, Ingredients shown to be effective in 15 human clinical trials”

“Tranquinol- Promotes deep, restful REM sleep, mental tranquility and calm mood throughout the day, Helps counteract stress via the hypothalamic pituitary-adrenal axis, Promotes a calm response to an overactive mind, May relieve occasional symptoms of PMS.”

BBB also reviewed the technical bulletin for Tranquinol and found that the document listed ingredients and claims for Safr’Inside, and Suntheanine, advertising the ingredients have been “clinically demonstrated” and “Supports Healthy Mood & Emotional Balance”, “Clinical research suggests that Suntheanine promotes brain wave activity, which is associated with a relaxed but alert mental state.  Human clinical trials have highlighted the ability of Suntheanine to promote a balanced state of relaxation without drowsiness, as shown by an increase in healthy alpha brain waves, and a decrease in beta brain waves.”

BBB Code of Advertising states:  Claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.   
BBB requested Premier Research Labs to provide evidence from recent, reliable, and competent studies or other objective studies or other objective data which may include scientific findings, FDA approvals, clinical studies, or other objective data relating to all the specific product(s) offered to substantiate any specific health benefit claims advertised on their website.  

BBB requested if substantiation cannot be provided Premier Research Labs discontinue the advertised claims to address BBB’s concern.
