My 17 year old daughter attempted to help her stranded class trip at *** after their flight arrived late due to a storm causing them to miss their connecting flight to ******She found 15 available rooms at the Sheraton DFW and booked them. As a 17 year old she was able to created a Bonvoy account and do a mobile check in. She called and cancelled the reservation about an hour later because the airline made arrangements for them but was billed on her debt card for the cost of 3 rooms. Only 3 rooms because thats all her debt card would allow otherwise she wouldve been billed for the entire 15 rooms.The approximate $660 was taken, which is part of an art scholarship she received, and will not be returned.I found out about this on July 11 and have contacted the Sheraton and explained the situation. They refused to give her the money back because she did the mobile check in.I contacted Marriott, Sheratons parent company, with my concern that a well intentioned 17 year old was able to make a reservation and do a mobile check in at a hotel where the minimum age for check in is 21. I asked that a $4.35 BILLION industry consider returning $660 to a 17 year old whose only mistake was her attempt to help stranded fellow students and their families.I spoke to several kind people who escalated my concern because they saw the validity.My last call was today where I was informed that ******** would/could do nothing because the manager at Sheraton DFW refused to return the money despite a 17 year old was able to, without warning or indication otherwise, reserve and check in to a hotel where the minimum age is 21. The last representative was very rude insinuating that a 17 year old should just know better. Because I contested her obtuse, and rudely delivered statement she hung up on me.Sheraton DFW and Marriott; shame on you.
