BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising.  These claims may come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints, and competitor challenges.  BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers more clear to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements. 

On February 15, 2023, BBB contacted the business regarding advertised claimed results regarding the use of Ketamine.

BBB’s review of Amity Infusions and Therapeutics website https://amityinfusionsandtherapeutics.com/ and Facebook https://www.facebook.com/amityivclinic noted some of the following advertising claims:

Ketamine Infusion is a “safe and effective treatment for mood disorders and mental health conditions”
"Ketamine Infusion Therapy for PTSD Treatment in San Antonio, TX"
"Why Ketamine for OCD?" "How does Ketamine Treat OCD?"
"Ketamine can be very effective in patients suffering from PTSD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance abuse disorder, and OCD, as well as many chronic pain disorders."
"Ketamine Infusion Therapy for Depression Treatment"
"Fast and Effective Suicidal Ideation Treatment in San Antonio, Texas"
"Ketamine infusions are a groundbreaking and efficient depression treatment that has been scientifically proven to provide fast relief for those with a treatment-resistant condition."
"We use Ketamine infusion therapy to treat chronic pain"
"Ketamine Infusions for Neuropathic Pain Treatment in San Antonio, TX"
"Ketamine Infusion Therapy for Migraines Treatment in San Antonio, TX"

Amity Infusions and Therapeutics also advertise health benefit claims regarding vitamin infusions including:

“Reversal and protection against aging”, “Protecting and repairing DNA”, and “Improving focus and memory” amongst other benefits.

BBB Code of Advertising states: claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data, and that upon request, advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made.

BBB requested Amity Infusions and Therapeutics to provide evidence from recent, reliable, and competent studies or other objective data which may include scientific findings, FDA approvals, double-blind placebo-controlled clinical studies, or other objective data to substantiate the advertised claims. BBB's review of the links provided on Amity Infusions and Therapeutics did not substantiate the advertised claims.

Additionally, according to Food and Drug Administration, Ketamine infusions are not FDA-approved for the treatment of any psychiatric disorder including depression or pain.  BBB  only confirmed one form of ketamine approved by the FDA for use in depression in the form of a nasal spray called Esketamine branded under the name Spravato. Ketamine is also accepted for short-term sedation and anesthesia.

BBB requested if substantiation could not be provided the business discontinues the advertised claims to address BBB’s concerns.

Amity Infusions responded to BBB's request on March 2, 2023, declining to provide further substantiation, and replied they may look into BBB's concerns at another time.
