On May 9, 2023 the Board for Contractors issued a Final Opinion and Order regarding Tony Michael Ramsey, Jr. He did not appear at the Board meeting in person, by counsel or any other representative. The Board for Contractors found substantial evidence that Tony Michael Ramsey, Jr. violated the following prohibited acts; 1. A license must operated under the name in which the license in issued. Any name change shall be reported to the Board within 30 days.
2. Failure of those engaged in residential contracting, excluding subcontractors, to make use of a legible written contract clearly specifying the terms and conditions of the work to be performed.
3. Failure of those engaged in residential contracting to comply with the terms of a written contract containing the following minimum requirements; a. When work is to begin and estimated completion date. b. Statement of the total cost and schedule for progress payments including the amount of the down payment. c. A list of specific materials and work to be performed which is requested by the consumer. d. A plain-language exculpatory clause concerning events beyond the control of the contractor and statement explaining that delays by such events does not constitute abandonment and not included in the calculation of timeframes. e. A statement of assurance that the contractor will comply with all local requirements for building permits, inspections and zoning. f. Disclosure of cancellation rights of both parties. h. Contractor's name, address, license number, class of license and classifications or specialty services. i. Statement that any changes to the contract must be in writing and signed by both parties. j. Effective as of July 1, 2015 all new contracts must have a statement notifying consumers of the VA Contractor Transaction Recovery Fund that includes information on how to contact the Board for claim information.
