I hired OC Flooring to sand and refinish **** sq/ft of hardwood flooring. The experience was not good to say the least. They werent the cheapest or most expensive. They had a nice brochure, so I chose them to do the job. It started with them not using the agreed upon Bona Traffic HD finish and instead a lesser grade Bona Mega One finish. Their workmanship was subpar and unprofessional. After they initially said the job was complete, there were lots of sanding swirl marks, uneven stain, and hairs and debris in the finish. They attempted to spot treat areas which created a patchwork of different sheens. I withheld the final payment until they finished the job in a professional manner, but instead of doing so they took me to small claims court. The judge sided with them based on language in their contract rather than on the basis of their performance. My neighbor had hired them as well during the same timeframe and had an identical experience though she settled prior to court. Im sure OC Flooring will reply to this review with falsities and untrue statements, but facts are facts and Ive included a few photos of their finished work as well. Hopefully, this review helps others avoid making the same mistake in hiring OC Flooring that I made.

    OC Flooring, LLC Response

    Dear ******,

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We value feedback and always strive to ensure our customers are pleased with our work.

We understand that you arent happy with the situation, but it's not fair for you to claim that any response we have to this review is going to be false. We are simply sharing our experience from our perspective, as you did yours.

Upon reviewing your comments, I'd like to address a few points. Firstly, it's important to highlight the photos you attached with your review. These images were taken before the project was fully completed, which does not accurately represent the final quality of our work.

Secondly, imagine you ordered a product and, upon receiving it, noticed there was some issue. Naturally, you'd call the company to arrange repairs. After agreeing to a date and time for the repairs, if you then decided to cancel and instead initiated a back charge for the product while still keeping the product, this now becomes a breach of contract of sale. No company would survive if clients simply decided they didnt like the product and revoked their payments, but still chose to keep the product, and refused to work with the company to resolve your issue. This would now be considered theft.

In the same way, after finishing the project and hearing your feedback, our immediate reaction was to schedule the necessary repairs. You then decided you no longer wanted us to do the repairs and instead decided to back charge your final payment. This was a breach of contract because we completed the project, therefore the final payment is due. As per our contract, we are more than willing to do any repairs necessary in order to resolve any issues you have after the completion of the project. Since you back charged your final payment and refused to allow us to make the repairs, we were forced to take this to court. In the end, the court determined we were in the right in this situation.
