I hired ***********************/Elk Head Plumbing and Construction to build a pergola and replace a broken yard hydrant (work order #*** dated 7/17/2023). On 7/18/2023 after the pergola was completed and **************** stated that he had already ordered the hydrant and would return shortly to install it, I paid him the entire amount for both jobs ($9,955.49, of which $475 was for the yard hydrant). Since that time, I have had a difficult time reaching **************** and getting him to finish my job. The reasons he listed were that he wasn't receiving emails or voicemails, he got stuck in Maui during the wildfires, was out of town due to a death in the family, or out of town due to his children's sports activities. On 3/1/2024, I left **************** another voicemail giving him until 3/15/2024 to either complete my job or refund my $475. On 3/13/2024, I texted him and he reported that he hadn't received my voicemail and had informed "everyone" that he wasn't receiving them for some reason. When I repeated my ultimatum, he said he thought he had told me that he'd be back to install the yard hydrant "in April-May." ***** hearing this, I told him that I cannot wait that long, that I cannot move forward with other projects because of no hydrant, and demanded that he refund my $475. He said he was out of town and would get me a check when he returned "next week." As I hadn't yet received anything by 3/23/2024, I again texted him asking for my money. He texted back that he had just returned to town the previous day, and understood that I wanted a check and he would be writing one. It has now been an additional 9 days time and I still have no check for $475 from ****************/Elk Head Plumbing and Construction LLC. I am not asking for interest on this amount. I simply want my $475 back because **************** has defaulted on the work he promised to complete for me.Business response

It was all a big miss understanding, i had thought per our talking previous months tha we would install when it wasnt freezing out again.
from her text a friend sent her a check for $475 on april 1st from his company and i paid him back.
now i see this dated the 4th
she has her money per her request.
sorry for everything i truly assumed when we talked prior that i would come and isntall it in spring time. all i can say sorry shes un happy, didnt mean to cause any heart ache.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. It's unfortunate that I had to rely on the honorable contractor who referred **************** to me to finally be reimbursed.
