Consumers beware of the deceptive and unethical practices of Aspen Dental franchises. They have been sued in the state of ****. and possibly other states. My concern is how the presentation of dentures is offered as getting a set of "healing dentures" or "comfy lite" dentures immediately after extractions are presented as part of normal procedure. Consumers are then asked to sign the usual form that they agree to pay what their insurance does not cover (usually just the expected co-pay). The agreed upon amount is then paid. Then the insurance supposedly did not cover the whole amount already paid. After some research with my Aspen Dental franchise in another state, I learned the extra $484.40 that was not covered by insurance was due to the fact that the Immediate/healing/comfy lite dentures that were presented as part of the normal process of getting final dentures were actually cosmetic dentures which NO INSURANCE covers per a financial staff person in an Aspen Dental office. Furthermore, if the insurance covers more than originally submitted for the final dentures, the coupon discounts are subtracted from discounted amount. Again, the consumer pays more, not less. I was an advocate for my cousin and was not present for the initial presentation and thought he was perhaps just an overly agreeable person. On our last visit to get final dentures, I personally heard the dentist giving the "healing dentures" presentation to a new consumer. The presentation was "You will get the healing dentures to take to your extractions and be able to wear them for about six months so that your mouth will be able then to get fitted for your final dentures." We ended up paying the extra $484.40 in the end as lawsuits take even more years! This is a formal complaint as opposed to just a review. The format would only suggest a review if I did not want to deal with legal steps. My concern is that the rhetoric I witnessed is company wide unethical deception.
