We had an absolutely miserable experience at the Grant Park North Garage yesterday. We've parked there before, so we know it's old and poorly designed and a tight fit, but it's right by ************** and we were going to a concert there. When we arrived at 3:37 pm, the main level was totally full, even all the handicapped spots, so we had to go one floor down. I have limited mobility and walk with a cane, but the elevator doesnt go to the bottom floor and there is no down escalator. We went to the ************* and then tried to move our car to the main level because we had a cart with chairs and a cooler, so we really needed an elevator. We were stuck in line with dozens of cars for over 20 minutes because there was some kind of blockage. The constant honking hurt our ears and did nothing to help, and my phone couldnt get a signal down there to call the garage for help. We gave up and re-parked. After the concert, though, we still couldnt get out. The up ramp was again blocked, and it took us 35 minutes to exit the garage. During that time, we had to choose between closed windows [which meant running the engine and wasting precious gas because it was stifling down there], opening windows and inhaling carbon monoxide because everyone was sitting there with engines on, or sweltering in a closed car while we saved gas. We alternated. We didnt get home until after midnight because of this delay, and yesterday was absolutely our worst parking experience in Chicago ever. I have a call in to the management of the garage and expect to speak with them tomorrow. I dont think SpotHero should offer parking at such an ill-run facility. We will not use them again.
