I called this business because of an offer that alerted me on Credit Karma. The message was that I could be approved for a loan. Once I contacted the business the young lady was a fast talker. See went over every detail; except I had to use my car as collateral. Once she took my information explained the process. She asked about my car. Ask if they could be added to the car since it has not been paid off. Even told me why who my finance copy was; this was never discussed. I then said no never mind I do not want to apply. Then the next day; I received an alert that a hard inquiry decreased my credit score. I did not request a loan. Only wanted information on applying and requirements. And, the representative was told exactly that do not perform any credit inquiry. Once she told me they had personal information about my vehicle that I did not provide. Illegal inquiry, and unauthorized. There was an unauthorized credit inquiry without my permission, or consent. Illegal practices, and misinformed, or uninformed information. ***** *********Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 16, 2022/02/15) */ Dear BBB Complaint Department: Thank you for your correspondence dated February 5, 2022. It is our goal at Republic Finance, LLC ("Republic Finance") to provide excellent service and we welcome the opportunity to address the concerns of our customers. Please allow this to serve as Republic Finance's response to case #XXXXXXXX. As requested by the BBB guidelines, we have left all personal identifying information, including the consumer's name, out of this response. Instead, we refer to the consumer as "the Consumer." Republic Finance immediately reviewed the Consumer's statements made therein. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ("FCRA"), Republic Finance is obligated to investigate credit disputes that are complete and meet certain requirements. According to the FCRA, a dispute notice is complete when it is submitted in writing directly to the creditor (i.e., not through a private, non-profit organization such as the BBB) and includes the following: (1) sufficient information to identify the account in dispute (e.g., consumer's full name, address, telephone number, and account number); (2) the specific information that is being disputed and an explanation of the basis for the dispute; and (3) all supporting documentation or information to substantiate the dispute, to the extent available (e.g., a copy of the relevant portion of the consumer report that contains the allegedly inaccurate information, a police report, a fraud or identity theft affidavit, a court order, or account statements). Therefore, Republic Finance has determined the Consumer's credit dispute is incomplete because it does not meet all of the three afore-mentioned requirements. If the Consumer has any additional information to satisfy the requirements set forth above, she is welcomed to submit a complete dispute notice directly to: Republic Finance, LLC, Attn: Credit Dispute Team, 7031 Commerce Circle, Suite 100, Baton Rouge, LA 70809-1394. Upon receipt of the Consumer's complete dispute notice, Republic Finance will investigate the dispute, correct any inaccuracies that may be discovered, and report back to her. If you have any questions or additional information, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely, **** ***** Compliance SupervisorInitial Complaint

Republic Finance sent me a check, and I cashed it. I ran into some financial difficulty. Republic Finance is incredibly hard to work with when trying to make payments after running late. The day after my first late payment, I could no longer pay online. They insist that you call the store. They do not store payment information for recurring payments, and their hours are very short. Eventually, I ran three months behind because I could not keep up with the late payments. The loan was sent to a lawyer's office: B, B, and A. I worked with the lawyer to make payments. I think I made two payments on time, and Republic Finance took my loan back from the lawyer's office. I went into Republic Finance and they said they removed the lawyer's fees. I made a payment or two again, but then had another financial hardship. I kept talking to the office, but it there were late payments yet again, and I fell further behind. The loan was again sent to the same lawyer's office, and I set up a monthly recurring payment. In June, the lawyer's office just quit taking my money. I received one phone call from the lawyer's office saying for me to call, and I had a hard time getting back in touch with them. Emails were returned and the phone number wasn't working. I filed a complaint with Equifax because they were reporting that I hadn't made a payment in a year. The local branch kept saying call the lawyer's office. I finally emailed the legal division of RF, and got a call the next week from the local branch. They told me they would be working with me while they figured out what was happening. I have paid the office directly the last two months, but there were more late fees incurred, and I was charged by the lawyer's office. Someone was supposed to call me back with the correct balance, but they never did.Business response
