I took my box truck to the TA in Baytown, TX, to have two batteries replaced (labor only) after confirming the cost of $60 over the phone. Once they replaced the batteries, the truck wouldn't start. The TA team said they didn’t know what was wrong and suggested leaving it overnight for a more experienced mechanic to diagnose it the next day. I paid the $60 labor fee and sent the driver to a hotel. The next morning, I was told the issue was due to the new batteries not being properly connected—a clear mistake by their mechanic. Despite this, they tried to charge us $600, then lowered it to $400, and we ultimately settled on $200 just to get the truck released. I escalated the issue to several people, including the district manager, and was repeatedly told it would be resolved and a refund issued. However, after months of follow-up, nothing has been done. I recommend avoiding this location, or at least paying with a credit card so you can dispute charges. Otherwise, you might end up paying for their mistakes and wasting time dealing with empty promises.

On 9/7/24 I purchased 8 drive tires for my truck. On the 8th I delivered my load and went home, was gone for about 2 weeks on time off. I returned to work last week. On 10/5/24 while doing a tire check for air pressure I realized that the tire replaced was done improperly. I then proceeded to a Travel Centers of America shop in Carnesville, Ga. The Carnesville shop dismounted and properly reinstalled all 8 tires. The tech then informed me that a bolt had been broken and could not be replaced. I then proceeded to another Travel Centers of America in Menane, NC where the bolt was replaced. I lost a lot of time because of poor workmanship. Lost time results in lost revenue, this not the way to do business.

My truck was damaged by a technician TravelCenters of America Eloy AZ trying to place on a knox sensor and he damaged and later found out he damaged the back pressure valve. I'm not a mechanic so I can only go off what I was told. The first kenworth in Dallas replaced the BPV pipe and said it should be ok. I got rehembursed But the damage was too bad that the back pressure valve needed to get replaced. Which cost $5,909. The first dealership said they will reimbursed the money for the job they did. But not the entire back pressure valve because of the way it came in. Christine **** in claims say they will not help with this replacement they're technician originally caused.

Our policy is to settle the claim with one settlement payment which Mr. ******  signed a release for on 07/24/2024, ( it was also notarized) and the release does state he is releasing TA from any claims, etc. in connection with TA’s service from June 29.  If the dealer repaired the vehicle and released it as OK the first time (what we settled the claim on) then the claimant should address the issue with the dealer.

The truck was undriveable when I arrived at the first dealership in TX and I was told by Christine **** to get any assistance I would have to sign and notarized the letter to receive funds. Christine **** was aware that im not a mechanic and asked me to sign that. I informed her it could be a  retread problem or it needed to be replaced.  I was not asking TA to pay for a 6k job to get over on them if retread was what could fix it. I tried to be fair as if it was my own money paying for it. The mechanic retread it and i thought it was fixed but retread didn't work.  The dealership is only refunding the tube and labor they put on it

and said they couldn't tell what the pressure was unless driven.  Christine **** never said replaced the entire back pressure valve or we're not helping you out.  Both dealerships have pictures and documents ready for this upcoming case with TA if we can't work things out with this dispute.  Christine **** is fully aware and the TA shop in Eloy AZ that their technician damaged the back pressure valve. $900 was reimburse but we just needed the difference and this would have been over.

This has been resolved but would like to say from my experience in dealing with  ta truck shops it has been the worst work performed by there shop and they also put my life and the public at risk due to there poor workmanship, to give just a simple answer this has been resolved is a understatement, company was also in violation of the consumer protection laws, i will never take my truck to a ta or ***** again, i also heard a story from a employee with out mentioning names they puttires on several years ago and they came off hitting a car, remember no waivers consumer laws can't be waived and freedom of speech will pravaile. I never got any down time but ta claims the can waive it, they have you sign a small eletronic tablet then print out there own rules trying to overright consumer laws in texas, they get to stay in buisness while i wait for my small settlement so i can repair the damages done on my truck. I even drove to three other shops that were right accross the sreet and they all said the same thing alignment was poorly performed by ta. I will share my story and repair bills with the world, sorry i should have never took my truck to ta and never will again

On 06.18.24 we did an alignment on 2019 Kenworth at the Ta at Brookville PA $264.10. After we start driving, it started to ruin our tires. We had to replace one tire on 7.12.24 $693.11 it was so bad, it was unsafe to drive. It was done at TA in Ft. Bridger WY, they said it was ruining tire bc alignment was not done correctly. They could not fix it bc their machine was not working. We were told that we can go on any TA truck service and redo the alignment because it's under warranty. Then we did tire rotation, just in case. On 7.23.24 we came to the TA at Commerce City CO. Explained everything and they said they will redo it in the morning. Driver was waiting for 3 hrs at the bay and no one ever came to check the truck. Tried to talk to manager and girl at the office, and at first they lied that its done, then when we said that no one came to the truck bc driver was there, they said mechanic looked at it " with his eyes" and nothing is wrong, he does not have to check alignment, he can just see it ok. and that they will not do anything unless we paid for alignment again or we have to leave. Very rude and unprofessional people. Did not want to do anything, kept lying to us. Alignment was not done correctly, or it would not be ruining our tires. They were even lying about mechanic looking at the truck "with his eyes" bc he never even showed up, and even if he did, how can you check alignment "with your eyes" not putting it on the machine and checking all the specs. Very bad service. We filed a complaint, and no one ever responded from TA. Called that location and tried to talk to a manager, left my number no one ever called back. On 8.1.24 we had to replace another tire bc it was so bad $$796.50. We should get reimbursed bc TA did not do alignment correctly and did not want to redo it, incorrectly done alignment ruined tired and we had to replace 2 tires because of it. Very bad, rude and unprofessional people at TA in Commerce City CO.

On 3/06/24 a TA Mechanic was called to my tractor truck to jump the truck off. He came to the truckstop with a small jump box. But, after a few minutes of waiting he went back and returned with a larger jump box for more power. Within minutes of applying an excessive amount of power to my unit the mechanic advised that I needed a starter as well as batteries so he changed both. When the truck finally crunk up it would not move and all the error lights and check engine lights on the dashboard illuminated. He then advised that the computer system was not communicating correctly. However, I had just picked the unit up from my mechanic at ******** ****** the day prior and he had ran all efficiency tests, replaced the DEF line and DPF Sensor and truck was functioning as it should with no problems (invoice attached). Upon speaking to the manager at TA about what had happened they removed the starter and all labor from my bill that day and advised they didn't know what was wrong but that it would need to go to the dealership. I then told him that I would be filing a claim and complaint regarding this and would expect them to reimburse us once we got the issues resolved that their mechanic had caused. However, each time I've called to follow up on my complaint I've been told someone would be in touch for the claim process and they have not. All of the damaged components were electrical in nature and were a result of the over charged system from TA. This has cost us $11,201.87. (invoices attached)

The customer is not willing to settle for refund of services we provided. They are adamant that we owe them $11,000 for repairs. We are confident that the repair bills incurred are not the fault of our shop and intend to prove this with electronic data from their truck. We feel this complaint is frivolous and we intend to fight these allegations.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Documentation shows that this unit was serviced and passed all required efficiency testing the day before this occurred by *********** ****** ** *********.  Load documentation as well as GPS coordinates show that this truck was then driven 500 miles and shut down with the fan running. Thus, draining the batteries completely. But, once the TA was called for a jump and the mechanic applied either excessive voltage through the system and/or the wrong terminals were connected none of the electrical modules would respond and the truck was deemed inoperable by the TA mechanic. The TA then advised that they would not charge us for anything except batteries after installing and removing the starter, installing batteries, and trying to diagnose what they had done wrong for nearly 6 hours. But, that we would have to get it to Freightliner. The truck was then towed back to Tennessee were it first went to Alley ******** for over a week then to Velocity 3 different times within the next 3 weeks as multiple systems were fried, and we only knew after we picked it up how far the problem stretched. Now the truck has been back on the road with no problems for over a month and after receiving no response or feedback from numerous calls and emails to the TA we are here hoping that this can be resolved amicably before we move on to an official lawsuit. We do not know what the mechanic did or didn't do wrong when he jumped the truck off. But, documentation, invoices, and 4 other mechanics confirm and or prove that he made a mistake that cost us over $11,000 not including the downtime suffered during these repairs and we are only asking for the documented out of pocket expenses to be reimbursed to help mitigate this problem. There is nothing that can be shown to refute what you think happened. As such, I would appreciate a check be mailed or your insurance information be provided for this loss so that we can move forward.

      Regards,

      ********* ******

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally lodge a complaint I encountered at your service station located at: Petro Travel Center 162 Luyben Hills Rd, Kingston Springs, TN 37082 Phone: (615) 952-4010 6 mths ago, we spent $1,900 at a different TA location to replace the starter and batteries of our truck. Recently, we encountered issues with the batteries and brought our truck to your shop. Upon arrival, we informed the staff that the truck would be immobile if turned off due to the battery issues. Despite our explanation and the significant amount spent previously, we were told that the batteries could not be replaced under warranty and that we would need to take up the issue with the dealer or the original TA location. Disappointed but needing a resolution, I agreed to pay for new batteries and requested a warranty for them. The staff informed us that a diagnosis was required before providing a warranty and then refused to perform the necessary diagnosis. Left with no choice and our truck immobilized in the bay, I instructed the staff to replace the batteries without the warranty. At this point, the staff member became irate, hung up on me, and subsequently refused to change the batteries. They also refused to sell the batteries to us for self-installation and refused service altogether. Ultimately, we had to call a towing company to remove the truck from the bay. As a result of this incident, we incurred several costs and business losses: Towing Bill: We had to pay for towing services to remove our truck from your premises. We seek immediate resolution and reimbursement for these losses. Specifically, we request compensation for the towing bill, fuel costs, and business losses amounting to approximately $11,000, in addition to the towing bill. . Please contact me at your earliest convenience to discuss this matter further. Sincerely, ****************
