I bought new tails pipes for my 1993 Corvette. I thought they should be professionally installed. Midas was not the place to have anything professionally done. While I was there I asked about replacing the speed sensor. Said they could take care of this as well. I left my care for 4 to 5 hours. When I picked up the car. I found the tail pipes were lopsided. They don’t extend passed the bumper. They cut the old pipes to short and had to ad a piece of pipe to each side. I expected the pipes to be welded. Instead the pipe clamps were hanging to low and will drag. The Lt1 tips were lopsided. The assistant manager didn’t see anything wrong with the work. He told me that the speed sensor did not fix the problem. That the gear was stripped out. On the way home the drivers side tail pipe fell off. When I got home I tried to put the pipe back on. It still doesn’t go pass the bumper. I took the speed sensor out to see the gear. The speed sensor gear wasn’t even put on the sensor. I spoke to the manager and gave them the opportunity to to fix it. The speedometer words when I drove it back to there shop. When he saw the pipe he said it looks good. They tried to fix the leak from the sensor. The O-ring would not seal. They argued about what oil goes in the tranny. I had gone toGM and picked up 2 quarts of GM tranny lube. After reading the service report that they gave me it was obvious they were trying to shift the blame to me. The fact is if they knew what they were doing or cared about what they were doing, they would take responsibility for their shortcomings. I’m a 62 year old veteran. I had to craw under my car and do the best I could with it because they just don’t care. I also called and filed a complaint with the corp office 4 days ago. Never heart back. Want to ad this note; While I was there the second time. There were 2 other patrons complaining.

Customer returned and the pipes were reinstalled and straightened out.  The RO was noted - TRANSMISSION WHEEL SPEED SENSOR WAS CUSTOMER SUPPLIED, GASKET FAILED DUE TO MANUFACTURER DEFECT. CUSTOMER WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS. AN ATTEMPT TO USE THE OLD GASKET WAS MADE IN HOPES OF STOPPING TRANSMISSION LEAK LONG ENOUGH FOR IT TO GO TO THE TRANMISSION SHOP. The manager states the customer is picking up a new o-ring for sensor and wants us to install it and he will be happy.

Your boys are lying to you. Just like he lied on the report.

I have read the complaints listed here. Seems the whole world is messed up except your boys. Ray Charles could see the incompetence in that shop. Open your eyes. There seems to only one guy in that store that cares about what he’s doing. I asked him the right way for that exhaust tone installed. “Weld it on”is what he said. Midas the muffler people, my butt. I wouldn’t let your guys work on my bicycle. I got pictures and video. See you in court.

In October 2021 midas looked at my car and stated I needed more things done to it than what it really needed. The person on the phone was very rude and hung up on me and he told me to come get my car. I sent the tow truck driver to get it but there were no keys in the car. By the time the tow truck driver got there they were closed. I tried calling midas asking for the keys but they just hang up on me

On May 14th, I took my vehicle in for brakes and they told me I needed a lot more than just brakes. They replaced my brakes, rotors, tires, front hub assembly, motor mount and one left cv axle. Charged us for an alignment which they never did. Also did something with the pin in the transmission. After I received the van back, that night I was driving it and I lost all power to it. I had to have it towed to a garage where they told me that it was the pin in the transmission that was causing the problem because there was no pin in the transmission and so it lost all the fluid. I attempted to find a solution with the manager at the store however he said that it was not their fault. I called corporate and they said they would call me back within 2-3 days and it has been about a week and I still have not heard from them.

Customer was in on 5/14 with Service Request - Brakes. We inspected the vehicle and made recommendations on what the vehicle needs. We replaced front and rear brake pads and rotors, 4 new tires, right rear cv axle, and right rear motor mount. I do not know what "pin in the transmission" customer is referring to, but we did not work on or service the transmission.

On January 4, 2022 I took my car to Midas to get the heat repaired in my vehicle. I paid the 39.99 for a diagnosis test. The employee told me what I needed. and quoted me.a price. They called and told me my car was ready. I came back to pick up my car. I played for the service. I told the employee that it still didn't have heat. The employee told me to take it ride if around for a couple of days. If that didn't work bring it back. I brought it back in a couple of days. And the employee said it would be 1200.00 dollars. in march I took it some where else. They said the seal wasn't broke. He hadn't did anything on the car. They flushed it out with coolant and the heat was working

Customer came in on 2/4 with Service Request - No Heat. We found the thermostat needed replaced. Replaced thermostat and did a coolant flush. Customer returned on 2/11 again with Service Request - No Heat. We now find the vehicle needs a new heater core. Unfortunately, customers vehicle has multiple issues, we did not cause and we had to fix the most obvious repair needed before finding the other.

I took my car in 4 times to have my AC fixed and still not fixed. I was told needed compressor, spent $1,200 and still Blew hot air, took it again , was told a line was leaking. Fixed and still blew hot air. Took it again , Dave the manager said I lost 4 ounces of Freon but can’t find leak and sent me on my way. Came back again and he Added Freon to car and then Claimed it was working fine deceiving me like I was making up the issue when the car even now is blowing hot air. The Freon he added all leaked out the next day. I’m beyond upset as I been dealing with this for a year and the Issue isn’t fixed and i Spent close to $2,000 for an issue that isn’t fixed and i Don’t think the Maintenence done was needed since it’s still doing it. I would like a refund of all cost for this issue and i Will not return to this business. I now have to go to another shop to have it repaired by someone that knows what they are doing. Thank you

I am rejecting this response because:
I took my vehicle to the Midas and has A gentleman look over my car and once again I get the “ I don’t know” response and that It COULD be electrical issue but I would need to spend $130 an hour to find out. The district manager said they won’t pay a refund since this is a “new” issue and that I needed the previous repairs. Thing is , the person that performed the repairs said what he fixed would solve my issue but they didn’t at all. Never once did they check electrical or say that’s what it could be the 4 times I took it in. They said it was a LEAK but could not find it. I paid for repairs I was told would fix my issue and after A year, the issue remains. I want a refund so I can take my car to another place. I never had issues with Midas until now. After all the years doing business with them , this is what I get. At most they could’ve waived the fee for the electrical repair if it was in deed that but wasn’t offered. I just want refund for the labor of the compressor and the Line leak that I was told would fix my ongoing issue.

On 7/3/21 customer was in for us to install customer supplied AC compressor. The air worked for several months before he had a hose leak that we repaired on 3/18/22. When the DM had the customer take to a different Midas location to inspect on 5/23/22, we noted the RO - checked power to ground at comp,  all good.  checked power and ground to fan assembly and all good, checked all fused and all good.  rechecked Freon levels and all was good 1.125lb Freon was recovered and recharged.  while checking wire connector at comp found wires may have been loose causing the problem.  not sure at this time but the system works as it should.  If problem persists will need electrical diag at $130.00 per hour.

No refund will be given for us installing customers parts.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

i took the car to Valvoline and they Said the AC clutch does not work and looks Like was whoever put it in caused the issue. The car is constantly blowing hot air still and just Seems baffling how after taking it in so many times, no one can find the issue and expect me to pay $130 and hour Just to SEE what the issue could be. I was told the repairs I had done would fix the issues and hasnt. If I am told what was done would fix the problem and it hasn’t, I should get a refund. It’s frustrating to take my car in multiple times and basically Get shrugged shoulders and an”I don’t know” response from professionals. Two Midas locations and both said they don’t know what the issue is when clearly there is one and I’m told I need things done to correct it and those Things don’t fix it so I’m definitely not paying them more money to not do a job properly again just so I can get shrugged shoulders and “I don’t know” responses after checking electrical. I put a lot of money into this repair and still Isn’t fixed. It used to work here and there but now it’s strictly blowing hot air. All I want is my car fixed like I was told when the first two repairs were done. Each time I took to to Erlanger store the manager can’t figure out the issue and even Says blows cold air but a day later it’s hot again. When I had my compressor put in last year, the air was only used couple months until fall hit so didn’t need it again so it’s not like it was working for a year as I didn’t have it on all the time. I’m told it’s a leak multiple times then I guess it’s not , then it’s now possible electrical so I don’t know what to do. I never had a shop not know what the issue is. Either way, I still would like a refund of some kind as they don’t know what they are doing with this issue and i shouldn’t have to pay for more guesses over the same problem from a year ago. Thank you

I had **** **** brake job on 2/4/21 with a lifetime warranty on the brake pad. On 5/3/22 the truck front passenger wheel locked completely up while driving & brake fluid started pouring out from that same tire. Had the truck towed to a diesel shop & was told that the brake pad was wedged in between the caliper & rotor. And that the pad had no clips that secure in place and there was damage to rotor and one caliper piston. There's suppose to be a lifetime warranty on pads and apparently the pad was the problem but was told by the district manager that he doesn't know what that truck has been through in the last year so no they weren't responsible but that's not the way lifetime warranties work. I paid $170 for tow truck and $643.36 in labor & parts to repair.

I got my car inspected 4/25 passed excellent and brought to Midas few days later because I just felt the rear break pads made a squeaky noise wanted to be pro active and have them replaced. I called got a quote 260. Dropped it off reminded them that car was just inspected all good but wanted rear break pads only. I called at 3pm to check status of car they said quote over 1000 rotors needed replacing. I said absolutely not replace rear only. Picked up car and had to pay 460 cuz they replaced all like seriously? Further they would not honor coupon online for 20 off 300 or more! This place is a scam and a joke this is why we no longer take fleet cars there as well. I also brought it to a garage right after pick up and they verified rotors were fine. This is shaneful

I have a 2003 Lincoln Town car w/approx 200,000 miles on it. I took it into Midas on ******* *** ********, **** about 4 months ago to repair the wire intake as something was draining the battery. I picked it up two months later and paid $1300 for repairs. When I picked up the car, it wasn't running right, so I went back into the shop and I spoke to Mike. Mike said go ahead and take it home and drive it a while, then bring it back and he would work on the motor. About a week later, I called him. Then he said he would not work on the car any further. Date: 8/2/2021; Midas, ***** ******* *** ****** ** **** I took my 2016 Kia Sorento SX to this shop due to a rear left brake issue (noise). This model is a higher trim and has red brake calipers, which are a design feature and selling point (cars cost extra with these when you buy them). After inspecting, the manager, Josh, said the left rear brake needed to be replaced including the caliper, for a price of $691, which I agreed to. He did not mention anything about changing the color, or about having any issues securing the parts. When I first saw the new brake components that were put on the wheel, I noticed the caliper was grey, not red like the rest of the calipers on my car. I could see the car lifted through a large window in the waiting room. During the 5 hours I was stranded at that Midas, I was told first that they could get the right part but it would "take a while and cost double", I was told they could not get it but if I brought them paint, they would paint it (I could not as I was stranded). I was told they would get the district manager on the phone but hours passed and they never did. During this time, the mechanic who worked on my car, and could see me through the glass, was yelling and cursing about me and this issue, in full view and earshot of me, and also violently kicking boxes while yelling next to my car. He later drove my car off the lot and I never saw it returned. He himself returned but my car was nowhere to be seen. They were trying to intimidate me and eventually told me I could not have my car unless I paid, so I paid them the $691 After I paid them, I found my car at the very farthest place in the lot, next to a pile of rusty garbage hidden out of view (the other customers' cars were parked right outside the waiting room when done). I made multiple complaints with Kevin ***** who did not help. I was put in touch with Paul, district mgr, who strung me along for months claiming he would help, but never did. I still must get it replaced.

DM spoke with customer back in August. The part (red caliper) cannot be found. Not sure if it is a supply chain issue or it just does not exist. DM offered at the time to refund the customer for the caliper only ($249.99). Not sure if there was a breakdown in communication with the DM and the refund, but it's been more then 8 months since the service, this offer will be coming off the table. Customer needs to contact the DM, Paul ***, ASAP at ************ to arrange for a refund check to be sent to him.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********. It did contain more falsehoods, namely that the 8-month delay was a result of anything but Midas employees' intentional delaying through lying to me. Further, my email correspondence shows that they did not ever offer me the refund now being offered. The "breakdown of communication" they reference was them lying and never calling me back, after violating every standard of decency in doing business during my initial visit.

That said, the current offer of $249.99 is acceptable. I called Paul *** immediately as suggested in the response, and he told me he would mail out a check to me. I am conditionally accepting this response, but if I do not receive the check promised by Paul *** then I will contact BBB to reopen the complaint.

I brung my car into Midas on 04/15/2022 for a tire rotation and wheel alignment because I felt my steering wheel shaking while I break and figured that would solve the issue. The “Manager” at this location said I had a faulty (Low ball joint) in my front left tire which needed to be replaced cause it can cause the tire to completely come off while driving. I got the service that he required done along with alignment. Once that was finished and got my vehicle back I noticed the ABS, Tire, Traction and steering light on the dashboard which wasn’t there when I brought it in. The mechanic then worked on it more and ordered a sensor which wasn’t in until the following day 04/16/2022 I then brung it back and the sensor replacement still didn’t work I was told drive 50 miles to see if the light will go off, which didn’t so I was told come back Monday 04/18/2022 to try another replacement and that was for the wheel barrel. The lights on the dashboard stood on while I test drove it and the mechanic insisted I come back 04/20/2022 so the original mechanic can fix his mistakes. It’s not 04/20/22 the lights has been off the dashboard I drove it for about 40 miles when a loud screeching noise came from the same tire that has been worked on as well as a shaky tire once again. Brought back to shop mechanic states it’s a plate that’s causing that issue.

On 4/15, we balanced 4 tires, replaced left lower ball joint and did an alignment. Customer returned on 4/16 and we found we damaged the front wheel sensor during the repair and ordered the part. The part arrived on 4/20 and we made the repair at no cost to customer. At that time, we also estimated a front wheel bearing and the front left caliper needs replaced. We replaced the part we damaged, these other issues are secondary issues the vehicle is having due to normal wear and nothing we caused.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

When I came into the shop my “issue” was the steering wheel shaking while braking which resulted, according to the mechanic it was the “ low ball joint” nothing else. Once I paid to get that replaced all of my lights came on my dashboard which wasn’t there before I brought it to the shop. I was NEVER informed of my sensor being damaged by the mechanic which is now being stated in this complaint. Midas is at fault for everything else that was caused which is why EVERYTHING was free of charge because I didn’t go in there with my sensor broken, wheel bearing or faulty caliper. I only had knowledge of a faulty LOW BALL JOINT. Im seeking a refund because my steering wheel still shakes when I brake so therefore problem wasn’t resolved. ***** stated my caliper was also sticking which is another issue cause by Midas due to them replacing it without my knowledge.
