I purchased a Kubota lawnmower in June of 2021 and it has roughly 64 hours on it. 3 weeks ago, it suddenly started smoking from the engine so I brought it to MB in ********, ** (place of purchase) to have it serviced. I received a call from the service department at MB on 5/23/23 that it was not repairable and that I would need a new engine that would cost approximately $2300. The cause of the problem was dirt in the engine. I was told that this would not be covered by the warranty, I also have insurance through Kubota *** and filed a claim which was substantially denied stating operator error. Apparently the issue is with an intake filter that I was told was hidden behind the baggers of the mower in a conversation with an MB employee. . At no point during the walk through when purchasing or picking my machine up was it ever detailed how vital this intake filter was to maintain this lawnmower and feel as though this is poor product design, not operator error. Shouldnt there be a safety to prevent this from happening? Also, what is the point of a warranty or insurance? I have read of others having this very same issue with Kubota products having Kawasaki engines (I will attach the recent BBB complaint I read). and feel the corporations need to be held accountable for this issue.

July 20,2018 Kubota F3990 front mower. Regeneration problem that cant be fixed. Ive been told by the mechanic at the Kubota dealer they will just keep replacing these parts and I can expect to be back again for it. As of July 24,2023 the warranty will be up on this tractor. Also I was told they would take it in on a trade but my ****** dollar investment was only worth ***** to them as they dont want to lose money but me losing ****** didnt seem like a big deal. As Im a small farmer that took some year to pay this off and cant afford the time loss thats accrued. Its hard to get ahead when your equipment is broken down. Ive purchased brand new so I didnt buy some one elses problem. If Kubota cant fix this problem they should replace them. Change the engine and emissions and I would be happier.

      ************,

I see that you have also called into our ***************************** your case number is 230508-001750.  According to your case, the machine is at the dealership right now for diagnosis.  Our local area representative is attempting to find out the diagnosis from the dealership and is ready to assist, if needed.

Kubota is aware of emissions problems that some customers have experienced with their F3990 machines.  For that reason, Kubota has given the original owners of these machines a lifetime warranty on the reformer/emissions system.  We have also provided our dealers updated diagnostic guidelines to help get machines repaired quickly and back to customers.  Please understand that this lifetime warranty does not cover situations where the customer has modified or attempted to remove the emissions system.  Nor does it cover situations where the customer has repeatedly inhibited regeneration of the machine.

Your dealership should inform you of their diagnosis and the options for resolving the issue but please let ** know if you have any additional questions.

      **************************

I'm responding back to your statement. When I purchased this F3990 Kubota font mower it didnt state that there was an emissions problem with it ; otherwise I would have never bought it.
As a farmer timing is everything and when you have a machine that breaks about every season and throws everything off ; then the stress of not being able to do your job hits!!

This machine is costing me thousands of dollars from the lack of being able to do my job. This machine breaks down during our busy season and yours and cost weeks of work that is required on the farm and spends weeks getting repaired each time. Kubota OVS dealer recording says we repair your equipment right the first time so you dont have to keep coming back well it might be true not saying this problem will return!!

Now having a machine thats lost its value because of the problems and Kubota not willing to remedy the problem other than to keep repairing it back to the original state it was built ; and only offering to the original owners  lifetime repairs for the emissions.

Nobody wants these kind of problems and nether do I.

We purchased our Kubota a little over a year ago, never had problems with it. All of a sudden from one day to the next the tractor began blowing smoke from the motor. We are still paying on the tractor and have 3 year warranty, however Kawasaki is refusing to fix the issue. We then tried an insurance claim which was also denied because there is no physical damage to the machine. We drove 45 minutes to our dealer to try and get a resolution, however were being told theres nothing they can do and we STILL have to pay for a tractor we dont have (its at the dealer where we thought it would be fixed) and doesnt work or ruin our credit because of this faulty machine. Ive gone in circles for over two months now and STILL have NO RESOLUTION and NO TRACTOR. Someone needs to do something about this! I will never recommend Kubota to anyone again! Whats the point of having 3-year warranty if its not going to cover ANYTHING?! Please tell me what to do.

I want to start out by saying that Kubota has been our trusted brand of equipment for my lawn and tree business for many years. It disappoints me to have to say that our company recently purchased a faulty brand new Kubota **** SVL skid steer from the ***** Tractor and Equipment Company in ********. After only 4 hours of operational use, it seems that the machine is now obsolete and needs a replacement ECM computer. I have been told that the motherboard can not be replaced and that I pretty much wasted $72,000. Frustration is an understatement, considering Kubota has been a reputable company for so many years. I continue to scratch my head and wonder how a machine that is less than 6 months old with 4 hours of run time can be deemed un-fixable. If Kubota doesnt want to stand behind the equipment they produce, I would hope they would at least give a refund for the time and money wasted on this machine. I pray this issue is resolved quickly and professionally. Thank you for your time.

      To Whom It May Concern,

Kubota recommends the customer contact his selling dealer to inquiry about a refund or exchange. Kubota warranty will stand behind any manufacturing/workmanship defects. Currently, a ECU is on order for this customer and the dealer is waiting for the part to come in and upon the arrive of the part the dealer will work towards getting the part installed and the machine fixed. If customer has any additional questions or concerns please have them to contact their Kubota Dealer.

It was my hope to resolve this issue in a professional and respectable way however, upon receiving the response from my companys complaint I asked my office manager to contact Kubota corporate to see if we could get something settled in an attempt to resolve this matter outside of the BBB.
She spoke with a man named ****** for about 25 minutes during that she was told that there has been a delay in production of the ****

Regrettably, she was told that the manufacturing facility located in ***** has not fulfilled their production order.  ****** also said that per an email between ******* and *** last name unknown because ****** said he couldnt tell us his last name. Disclosed that     April 3rd the chips should be delivered mid-April and we are in the last week of April and it is not here this call took place on April 19th 2023.

Unfortunately, this regrettable performance reflects poorly on your entire corporation. I am very dissatisfied with how Kubota is handling this matter. At this point Id like to just get a new machine or a refund. Every day that this $72000 machine continues to be an expensive lawn ornament my company is losing money. I need to get this resolved.  If I can supply any other information, please let me know.

Do NOT purchase a Kubota if you want a company to not stand behind their products and warranty! I feel like people should know how Kubota treats their loyal customers & not have to go through what we are right now. We have purchased 5 pieces of Kubota equipment and several attachments from Oakway Tractor in ********** over the last roughly 10 years. We have had 2 skid steers in the past few years & the most recent one being only 18 months old with **** hours on the machine. The first ****75 skidsteer we purchased had engine problems and Oakway could not get a new engine for over a year. In our line of work he can not be down a machine so he traded the ****75 with engine problems in for a new ********. The NEW ******** is only 18 months old with **** ************ say it needs a new ********************************************* along with Oakway Tractor does not want to stand behind their **** hr/24month warranty! They want us to pay $33k+ for a new engine. They also want to point the finger at our insurance company to be the ones to cover the engine instead of Kubota warranty coverage which is absurd! It makes me sick to know that they do honest & hardworking people this way & try to get away with it. Kubota warranty is not worth the piece of paper that its written on if they dont cover their equipment during the warranty period. Along with the dealership putting everything on us to try & get Kubota Corporation to cover the engine. Its a known fact Kubota has issues with their engines but it is easier to point the finger at others instead of standing behind their ******************** We will NEVER own another Kubota or anything with a Kubota engine in it ever again if Kubota does not stand behind their warranty! This complaint is in regards to a transaction that occurred 12/29/20. I was only made aware of the problem explained below as of 02/2023. This is the reason resolution was not pursued prior to this date. On 12/29/20 I traded in my Kubota MX5800HST Tractor to RDO Equipment in ********, **. The tractor was surrendered to RDO Equipment on 12/30/20 as I purchased a **** Deere tractor to replace the Kubota. RDO Equipment was responsible for paying off my Monthly installment loan to Kubota Credit in the amount of $25,506.20. A payoff letter was obtained from Kubota Credit Corporation prior to the purchase of the **** Deere which was valid until 01/13/21 for the payoff amount of $25,506.20. I did not receive a release of lien or paid in full documentation. After the transaction was completed with ***************************** I received 1 letter from Kubota Credit Corporation following the Kubota MX5800HST dated 01/19/21 stating there was a remaining balance in the amount of $275.56 on my account. The last payment to my account was on 01/19/21 in the amount of $25,506.20. I thought this was a mistake as they received the payoff in full amount. I received a 2nd letter from Kubota dated 06/25/21 which stated as of that date there was a payoff balance of $379.13 showing the last payment received on 01/19/21 in the amount of $25,506.20. On 07/10/21 I contacted RDO Equipment and spoke to ********************* who was our sales representative for the sale/trade in of our Kubota Tractor. ***** let me know there was a problem with a lien release on the Kubota from the *** as it was listed as collateral to the ***. I looked back at my records, I completed the necessary paperwork to release the lien with the *** on 01/08/21. On 08/06/21 I contacted Kubota Credit Corporation and spoke to *****************************. She requested that I email a copy of the wire transfer paperwork from RDO for the sale of the Kubota MX5800HST as Kubota was claiming the wire transfer payment was not received on my loan until after the Payoff letter period on 01/19/21 which caused a remaining balance. On 08/06/21@ 7:20 a.m I received the wire transfer information from RDO Equipment via email from *********************. Their finance department recommended I contact Kubota for the problem with my loan having a remaining balance and not being paid in full. 08/06/21 @ 3:02 p.m. I emailed the requested paperwork to ***************************** at ************************************ I never received any further correspondence from Kubota Credit Corporation. On 02/03/23 I received my 2022 Interest statement from Kubota Credit Corporation which shows $0.00 interest paid ion loan #******** with End of year balance of $1595.48. I immediately contacted Kubota Credit Corporation and RDO Equipment regarding this balance. RDO blamed Kubota which led me to call customer service. I spoke to Risk manager ******* at Extension ****. ******* stated that a same day wire transfer was initiated by RDO Equipment on 01/19/21 which was after the payoff letter expiration. Due to having a simple interest loan since the balance was not paid off prior to 01/13/21 by RDO Equipment the balance continued to accrue interest and insurance. Kubota has expressed they are willing to waive $556.00 of these fees on my account. RDO has expressed they will pay the necessary account fees for the period of 01/13/21-01/19/21 which total $60.00. I did not receive ANY correspondence from them to indicate this balance remained unpaid or was not written off. Kubota should have contacted me after my phone call and email on 08/06/21 if they documentation I submitted was not sufficient. I am requesting Kubota Credit to waive ALL of the fees charged to my account from 01/19/21 - present due to their negligence in handling my loan.
